The Short Risk Reversal is a bearish option strategy that profits when the the strategy increases in value. This is generally achieved when the underlying stock, future or ETF decreases in value and we'll discuss when a trader could make a profit even when that doesn't happen. While the Short Risk Reversal gets it's name because it has traditionally been used to hedge the risk of a long stock position, we'll discuss when one could use this strategy to take advantage of a bearish move in the markets.  Without cracking the code to trading options, traders may wonder why option strategies don't perform as expected.

 

The Risk Reversal is a very versatile strategy that can be used to hedge a position/portfolio, trade speculatively or a way to use less capital than a traditional long stock position.
